Staff Designer

Full-time

LOGISTICS

  • Full-time

  • 4 days in our Matthews, North Carolina office, 10am to 3pm, 1 day remote

  • $45,000 to $55,000 per year

  • Health and PTO benefits

  • Reports to our Director of Product

The book a woman writes may be the one good thing she leaves behind. How it looks matters. The Staff Designer is the person who makes sure every book, inside and out, matches the seriousness of what's on the page. This is a production design role. You'll format book interiors using our Canva and our Typst template, run the cover design process from first concept to final print file, and design the visual assets that surround every book release.

What you'd actually do

  • Format book interiors in our Typst-based Hope Books template, then produce print-ready PDFs for IngramSpark, KDP, and Lulu
  • Run the cover design process from 99designs concept through final files in our Canva cover template system
  • Calculate trim sizes, bleeds, spine widths, and typography for every print file
  • Design our quarterly Hope Books magazine and other in-house print materials
  • Create the visual assets for our weekly author launch visits, including the welcome slide on the TV, social posts, and tagged graphics across our channels
  • Build and maintain design systems across our portfolio brands (Hope Books, Hope Legacy, Hope Heroes, BibleBuilds, and more)
  • Work closely with our Staff Editor on books and the magazine, and with our Marketing Manager on campaign assets

Who thrives here

You already do production design. Not "I took a class on InDesign." You've laid out a real book or a real magazine, and you can show what you've done.

You're willing to use Claude, Canva, and Typst as your daily stack. If you only want to work in Adobe Creative Suite, this isn't your seat. Our books are built on a different stack now, and we need someone who's energized by that, not held back by it.

You're a systems person. The brand rules, the color palettes, the templates are already set. You like that. It lets you focus on craft instead of starting from scratch every time.

You see the small things. The misaligned page number. The orphan word. The spine that's two points off. Those things bother you, and you fix them before anyone else notices.

You can run ten projects at once without losing track of any of them.

Marketing Manager

We're a small team doing meaningful work, and we're looking for a Marketing Manager to own the work that brings new authors into our world. This is a lead generation role. You'll run our ads, lead our social media, and own our email campaigns. Your job is to fill the top of our funnel with the right people so our sales team can do what they do best.

What you'd actually do

  • Run paid ads on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) with one clear goal: bring in qualified leads who are ready to consider working with a publisher
  • Plan, write, and post social content that builds trust and shows what publishing with us actually looks like
  • Build and send email campaigns that warm leads up before a sales conversation ever happens
  • Track what's working and adjust week by week
  • Build evergreen marketing playbooks for each stage of our author journey, so the work keeps running without being rebuilt every quarter
  • Sit in on our team meetings so your marketing actually reflects what we're doing for our authors

Who thrives here

  • You already run ads. Not "I took a course on ads." You've run them, you can show what you've done, and you know how to read the numbers.
  • You already do social media. You have an eye for what looks good and what doesn't. You know how to write a caption that earns a click without sounding desperate.
  • Email might be your next skill to build, and that's okay. We'll help.
  • You care about telling a true story for an audience you respect. You're not looking to crush it or 10x anything. You want to do work that matters.
  • You're comfortable being held to a number. You want to know if you're winning.

Behind our work is a community of women who are still figuring out if they have something worth saying. The Community Coordinator helps us love them well. This is a relational, behind-the-scenes role. You'll keep the community organized, support authors in their journey, and ensure every woman feels seen and heard as she writes her first book. You'll manage conversations, shepherd members through milestones, and surface needs to the team so authors get the right support at the right time. This work is rooted in care — it's professional, bounded, and it doesn't follow them home.

What you'd actually do

  • Manage day-to-day community conversations, moderation, and member support.

  • Onboard and welcome new authors, helping them find the right resources and next steps.

  • Coordinate events, workshops, and group calls; manage scheduling and follow-up.

  • Track member progress and surface needs or opportunities to the team.

  • Create systems and documentation so community care scales without losing relationship.

Who thrives here

You prioritize relational care and clear boundaries — you can be warm and professional at once.

You are highly organized, love systems, and follow through without needing constant direction.

You enjoy behind-the-scenes work that helps others shine and keeps a community healthy.
